About
Fletcher Miller School is a unique academic environment for students with significant support needs (SSN). Fletcher Miller is a public school on Jeffco’s continuum of alternative education placements for special education.
Fletcher Miller School students work toward Extended Evidence Outcomes aligned with the general education curriculum and Colorado State Standards. We serve students with SSN in preschool, kindergarten-12th grade, transition services and the Lighthouse Program.
School placement at Fletcher Miller is based on identified student needs through the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process. In addition to providing instruction in literacy, functional communication, math, science and social studies, students experience adaptive physical education, music and art.
Fletcher Miller provides intensive physical, occupational and speech therapy so students can access their curriculum. Staff members work in multi-disciplinary teams to address the “whole child” and provide a variety of enriching activities including art shows, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, PBIS and adapted athletics.
The Lighthouse Program is an alternative education placement for students in SSN programs (sixth grade through transition age) with complex behaviors that impact their ability to access instruction in a neighborhood school SSN program. We provide a small instructional environment with paraprofessional educator support addressing functional communication, behavioral needs and sensory regulation. In addition to classroom staff, the Lighthouse Program is served by our team of speech therapists, occupational therapists, registered nurses and mental health providers.
